deeply inspired by the lively art and music scene in his local
mission neighborhood and began to focus his attention more on
oil painting.
Mr. Pedersen began teaching at Piner in 05’, teaching both art
and ceramics, and recently relocated again to Petaluma with his
wife and newborn son. |
Mike
Simpson - Band
My life almost began in the back of a 1948 Studebacker as my dad
was rushing my mom from Santa Rosa to Sonoma Hospital.
I've always had an aversion to mecanics since. I grew up in
Santa Rosa and along the way got involved in music and decided
at age 12 I wanted to be a music teacher. My first music teacher
was always happy and fun and I realized he was getting paid too!
After graduating from Montgomery High School I continued on a
few years in college and decided I wanted a break. I had started
working in restaurants at age 15 and had kept working all that
time so I decided to try a career in that. I worked my up to
chef for a corporate restaurant and eventually became a general
manager, running restaurants in Reno, San Diego and Texas. I
realized after some years I really wanted to be a teacher so
back to school I went, getting a credential and my Bachelors and
Masters at the University of Redlands. I spent five years
teaching in the Palm Springs area and then decided to head back
home after being away for
17 years. I have been at Piner High ever since teaching a myriad
of subjects to a lot of students. |
